Die Ergebnisse sind deutlich besser, wenn innerhalb von 2 Wochen nach der Geburt damit begonnen wird. Wird mit der Behandlung erst nach 3 Wochen begonnen, sind die Ergebnisse nicht mehr so gut. Dies h\u00e4ngt mit der Formbarkeit des Knorpels zusammen. Zun\u00e4chst erfolgt eine Beurteilung durch einen auf EarWell spezialisierten plastischen Chirurgen. Einige Ohrdefekte sind schon bei der Geburt mit blo\u00dfem Auge zu erkennen, aber Schlappohren sind oft noch in der Entwicklung.
