Lidding or lop ear

A lop ear is a deformity in the auricle. This deformity occurs if the upper part of the antihelix, the triangular fossa, is not fully developed. This part of the cartilage supports the upper third of the ear. If this is insufficiently developed, the upper part of the ear will fold forwards.

The extent to which this occurs can vary. It may be that only the helical rim is folded over, or the entire upper third of the ear. If this is diagnosed early, EarWell can achieve full correction.
