In the Netherlands, 33% of babies are born with some degree of ear deformity or asymmetrical ears. Protruding ears, also called sticky-out ears are the most common. Other ear deformities often occur in the auricle, for example a folded ear or a deformity in the outer rim of the ear. Now there is a solution to remedy many ear deformities in newborn babies: EarWell.
Problems with an ear deformity
In later life, an ear deformity or malformed ear may lead to cosmetic concerns, and could affect your child’s psychological and emotional development. Studies show that children with facial abnormalities, and ear deformities in particular, are more prone to being bullied. The result is that many ear deformities have to be surgically corrected when the child is around 6 years old.
